Meet Vonya

It's been a long  journey. It's been a hard journey. I knew that I couldn't give up because if I gave up, I wouldn't have a home. I wouldn't have any income. I wouldn't be as safe as I am today. I wouldn't be in recovery. If I would have given up, I would be in prison right now. I knew that I had to start trusting somebody because if I didn't trust somebody, I would never be where I'm at today. I'm very grateful to experience this and to have my daughter with me.

I got introduced to Furnish Hope through someone at my church, and that’s how I ended up with furniture in my house. I didn't have to do anything for it. There wasn’t a price on it. It was strange for me to have that experience and to just have all these people bring stuff into my home for nothing. They didn’t want anything in return.

Life has been a challenge for me and not knowing how to reach out to others without trusting them was a big challenge. I can say today that  I have opened up to trust others.

This experience has given me hope to start on a new journey, to accept life on life’s terms, and to continue to keep growing and to enjoy every minute. I don’t have to live in fear.  I know all our stuff is safe and we are safe.
