“They are like angels to our family!”
From the outside looking in, Tyler and his family presented an image of happiness, but on the inside, they were hiding a dark and painful secret. Their home environment had been unsafe for Tyler for years, and soon proved unhealthy for his young children, but there was hesitancy to unload this burden with others.
Tyler’s six-year-old daughter, wise beyond her years, found the courage to confide in her teacher and school principal - a first step on their path towards a safer home. The early days on that path were not easy. They had to leave their family home and on a modest income, they struggled to find housing. Tyler’s faith assured him that “God was working on everything to build and create my family’s journey.” Community members eventually helped secure housing, and then, an introduction to Furnish Hope helped transform that house into a home.
“I remember walking through that house, and my daughter looks at me and says, “Daddy where will I sleep? Where will Kayden sleep?” Furnish Hope provided us with everything we needed, even things I would never have considered. I thought we would get couches and beds, but we got everything I needed to cook, and we even got shower curtains and hooks. I wouldn’t have even thought of shower curtains and hooks.”
Grateful for these essentials, Tyler is even more grateful for the hope that community members and Furnish Hope have given his family as they rebuild from a fragile past. This hope has been gifted in gestures big and small: the simple act of allowing his daughter to select the furnishings for their new home by placing pink tape on warehouse items is just one powerful example.
“I’ll never forget the look on her face at the warehouse that day, or when they loaded everything into the trailer and delivered it all to our house that night. We had a home, you know, we truly had a home.”
Tyler and his wife are working on reconciliation and rebuilding their family. Grounded in his unwavering faith, Tyler never gave up, and a caring community ensured that wouldn’t happen either.
“Furnish Hope will stand next to you and be there for you like you wouldn’t believe. They are like angels to our family.”
