Designing Hope, One Home at a Time

Last year, Furnish Hope had the privilege of participating in the inaugural DDH Angel Project, linking arms with a remarkable network of community members who rallied support to transform the home - and life - of a local ‘angel’, Chelsea Taylor. What unfolded was a testament to the deep, intentional connections that make Central Oregon so special.

The DDH Angel Project was the vision of Jennifer Gooding, a Bend-based interior designer and owner of Domaine Design House (DDH). Jennifer’s passion for “transforming lives through design” led her to channel her expertise into giving back and creating a home for someone in need.

“As designers, we have the ability to bring our clients' dreams to life, helping to create homes, businesses and shaping communities. Plus, through our work and resources, we can create meaningful change and help those in need feel the comfort of home that they may have never had before.”

- Jennifer Gooding, Owner & Principal Designer-Domaine Design House

When searching for an “angel” to nominate, Jennifer connected with Melissa Williams at Every Child Central Oregon who immediately thought of Chelsea Taylor. A giver by nature, Chelsea works as a case manager for Deschutes County Behavioral Health and has been a single foster parent for years. Currently in the process of adopting her three foster children, she has also been navigating the challenges of an unfinished home renovation. That’s where the Angel Project, and the community, stepped in.

Preparations began in March 2024, culminating in a whirlwind weekend of transformation in October. The project was entirely community funded with donated supplies, volunteer efforts and supplemental grant funding generously provided by Sleep in Heavenly Peace and NeighborShare. Anyone who wanted to pick up a paint brush, pull a weed or clean a garage was welcome: a desire to help was the only requirement. Furnish Hope contributed furnishings and decor for the children's rooms, while our volunteers helped organize Chelsea’s kitchen.

This project was nothing short of extraordinary. Furnish Hope was honored to collaborate with individuals and organizations who share our dedication to transformation, fostering connections and delivering solutions. What’s more, these layers of help were delivered with love and beauty.

“All of this has made my children feel seen and heard and understood in a way that they hadn’t felt before.”

Jennifer plans to make the Angel Project an annual event, and Furnish Hope looks forward to being part of this incredible journey again.
