Furnish Hope was honored to be the 2022 beneficiary of Pine Mountain Sports Community Ambassador Program and the recipient of over $66,000 in donations. We are grateful for every contribution and opportunity to grow awareness around furniture insecurity in Central Oregon, and we are especially appreciative of owner Dan McGarigle, an inspirational example of what it means to be a community partner.
Those familiar with Pine Mountain Sports as a staple of Bend's athletic outdoor culture are no doubt also familiar with Dan, the friendly presence who guides his team to assist customers with knowledgeable and attentive service. What may not be as apparent is Dan's compassionate heart and motivation to create a philanthropic culture within Bend and the greater Central Oregon community.
Dan has coined a "Resolve to be Involved" philosophy: a belief that the best of each individual shines when people take the initiative to help others and invite their community members to do the same. This philosophy is an essential part of who Dan is as human being, as a Bend resident and as a local business owner. Influenced at an early age by his mother who modeled a lifetime of giving her time and resources to others, Dan doesn't just want to own the best outdoor recreation business in Bend. He wants to make Bend a better community for everyone who lives here.
Dan has built an incredible team who not only share a passion for outdoor sports but who embrace his "Resolve to be Involved" philosophy. As part of the 2022 Community Ambassador Program, Pine Mountain Sports employees became ambassadors for Furnish Hope, taking time during regular customer interactions to explain our mission and encourage the Bend community to support our cause. Many volunteered during their days off work to help at our warehouse and with deliveries. The compassion and grace they offered to our recipients was inspiring and yet another mark of an amazing organization.
Launched in 2016, the Pine Mountain Sports Community Ambassador Program has already helped to raise over $500,000 for local nonprofits thanks to the combined efforts and generosity of Dan, his staff and his customers. Truly, an awesome endeavor!
